Information

This 1931 Duesenberg Model J Sport Convertible Sedan was one of only five open cars built by Derham on the short-wheelbase chassis and just two featured the distinctive V-shaped windshield. While Derham produced nearly 40 bodies for Duesenberg, most were formal town cars and limousines, making this example exceptionally rare.

The car was first owned by Maybelle Horlick of Racine, Wisconsin, whose family had three different Model Js. She kept it until her death in 1938. In 1940, noted Duesenberg dealer John Troka sold it to L.E. Adams of Olympia, Washington. After brief ownership by Miles Rorvig, the car went to Gerald Stroheker in 1952. When Stroheker passed away, it was willed to Charlie Norris of Portland, Oregon, who later sold it in unrestored condition.

Cliff Stranburg acquired the car from Norris and has kept it for more than 45 years. A full restoration was completed in the mid-1980s, preserving this rare Derham-bodied convertible sedan for future generations.
