This 1930 Duesenberg Model J is a Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe by Murphy. This car was originally delivered to Duesenberg's Los Angeles branch in 1930.
It remained unsold for some time. It was then transferred to the New York branch. Its first owner was John William Young Martin of New York, the grandson of Samuel K. Martin, a prominent Chicago lumber wholesaler.
In the 1970s, the car was fitted with a supercharger from engine J-401, giving it the performance of an SJ.
Over the years, it has been part of notable collections, including the Imperial Palace and that of General William Lyon. Most recently, it was restored by its owner, Terry Adderley of Michigan, who returned it to an elegant off-white exterior finish.
