Information

Duesenberg Model J chassis 2298 was configured as a striking roadster on the long‑wheelbase chassis, an unusual and imposing combination that emphasized both presence and performance. Finished in black, the car presented a bold and purposeful appearance, further enhanced by its extended proportions.

In June 1930, the car was purchased by L. Martinez de Rivaz, becoming part of the growing group of international owners drawn to the prestige and engineering excellence of the Model J.

One of the car’s most distinctive features was its additional access door to the rumble seat, a rare and practical design element that improved usability for rear passengers. This uncommon detail set the car apart from more conventional roadster configurations and highlights the level of customization often seen on Duesenberg coachwork.

Unfortunately, little is known about the car’s later history, and the ultimate fate of chassis 2298 remains unknown. Despite this, its documented early specification and unique design features make it a particularly intriguing example within the broader story of the Model J.
