Information

Duesenberg Model J chassis 2295 was originally delivered with a formal Judkins limousine body, reflecting the preference of many early European buyers for chauffeur‑driven luxury. In May 1930, the car was purchased new by Torsten Krueger of Sweden, making it one of the relatively few Model Js exported to Scandinavia during the early years of production.

Just one year later, Krueger sold the car to fellow Swede Erik Åkerlund, and it remained in Sweden for the remainder of its life. Following an early accident, the original Judkins body was replaced with a Willoughby limousine body, which had previously been mounted on another Swedish‑owned Duesenberg J‑263. This type of body interchange was not uncommon, particularly in Europe where the cost of repairs often encouraged reuse of existing coachwork.

In subsequent years, the car underwent an even more unusual transformation. The limousine body was adapted for motorcycle transport, a highly unconventional use for a Duesenberg, illustrating both the practicality imposed by changing times and the resourcefulness of its owners.

Tragically, the story of chassis 2295 came to an end in 1943, when the car was involved in another accident and was completely destroyed. As a result, no part of the original automobile is believed to have survived.

Despite its loss, the documented history of J‑2295 offers a fascinating glimpse into the varied and sometimes unexpected lives these great automobiles led, far removed from the luxury and prestige for which they were originally created.
