This 1929 Duesenberg Model J is a Non-Disappearing Convertible Coupe by Murphy. It was originally delivered to John R. MacKinney of New York City, a wealthy businessman and partner of John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. Both men held seats on the New York Stock Exchange, and MacKinney also ran his own firm, MacKinney & Weicher.
Decades later, the car was owned by Bruce A. Meyer of Beverly Hills before being sold to Belgian collector Bob Lalement. Over the years, this Duesenberg has earned numerous awards, including the coveted Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 1981.
