Duesenberg Model J chassis 2232 was originally completed with a Murphy Convertible Sedan body, a style well documented in surviving black‑and‑white photographs from its early life. Murphy’s convertible sedans were among the most admired of all Model J body styles, combining elegant proportions with the firm’s characteristic clean, understated lines.
Today, chassis 2232 is no longer paired with its original engine. The car’s original powerplant, engine J‑209, has since been removed and installed in an Auburn Speedster, a not‑uncommon fate for Model J engines during the mid‑20th century, when their exceptional performance made them desirable for custom or performance‑oriented projects. As a result, 2232 survives with a different configuration than it carried when new.
