This Duesenberg chassis was first shown at the 1929 New York Auto Show, where it attracted the attention of Harry Robinson, already the owner of two Duesenberg Model A automobiles. After purchasing the chassis, Robinson chose to have it bodied by the Walter M. Murphy Company of Pasadena, conveniently located near his residence. Murphy completed the car in a striking white finish, matching the color of the chassis as it had been displayed at the show.
In 1934, chassis 2134 made an appearance on the silver screen in the Hollywood musical “The Gay Divorcee.” Its elegant coachwork and bright paint made it a natural choice for film use during that era.
